VOYAGER SAFARI CAMP

Situated in the shadow of majestic Mount Kilimanjaro on the edge of Tsavo West National Park, Voyager Safari Camp sits on the edge of a small dam on the Sante River. This exclusively tranquil camp offers a close encounter with the resident hippos and crocodiles, as well as the big game of one of Kenya’s most spectacular and least explored parks. All of the twenty five tents look out over the river, and are spacious, comfortably furnished and classic in ambience.

ZIWANI TENTED CAMP

Situated in the shadows of Mount Kilimanjaro, Ziwani is the ideal spot on the banks of the Tsavo River, which is fed by the melting snows of Kili. With around twenty spacious tents, Ziwani retains a rustic ambience that’s comfortable and reminiscent of a bygone era. Mzima Springs is also a very popular visit for guests.

Served by waiters wearing the khanzu, the traditional snowy-white tunic that servants wore in the colonial period but now worn with pride.

NGULIA SAFARI LODGE

Ngulia Safari Lodge is located on a spectacular site in Tsavo West National Park. It’s been built at the top of a rocky outcrop and carved into two flat terraces. There is a grassy plain and well visited water hole to the left, then in front of the restaurant, is a ’strategically’ located dead tree, where meat is put out each evening for a resident leopard. All fifty bedrooms are quite simple and have balconies and en suite bathrooms.

KILAGUNI LODGE

Kilaguni lies in the heart of Tsavo, one of the best game viewing areas in the park. Only 100 meters away from the main building lie a series of waterholes that attracts animals from miles around. The lodge has around sixty rooms that are well designed, spacious and include all the modern conveniences one would expect from a top lodge here. With Mzima Springs close by and Mount Kilimanjaro dominating the horizon, this is a highly recommended place to stay. The food and service are very good too.

From one of the eight luxury cottages, guests enjoy a 270 degree view of the surrounding park with its scattered kopjes and mysterious baobab trees. The open plan rooms are individually designed, incorporating the rocks into the structure. Traditional African furniture, bright fabrics and whitewashed walls are all simple yet superbly comfortable and stylishly effective.

With thirty three rooms tucked away in the gardens, they are all quite simple, though certainly comfortable enough for a few nights stay. The property overlooks Lake Elementaita and is located in a private estate.

LAKE NAIVASHA COUNTRY CLUB

The club rose to fame in the 1930’s, as the staging post for Imperial Airways’ flying boat service from Durban to London. With heavily influenced colonial architecture, the main buildings are solid and comfortable, with around fifty rooms stretching out into the gardens – which are lush and colourful. The rooms are quite simply furnished though quite spacious. Being right on the shore line, most activities are focused on the lake, with many boat trips heading to Crescent Island, where one can get out and do gentle walks.

SAROVA LION HILL LODGE

The landscape seems to always blossom here, as natural foliage and a variety of wild flower blossom. There are only 65 rooms, all are air-conditioned and have modern conveniences. Views from the room’s verandas are also panoramic.

LAKE NAKURU LODGE

Lake Nakuru Lodge is in the south eastern sector of the park, with commanding views of the lake and flamingos, for which it is justly famous. Lush gardens surround the lodge and cottages, which can accommodate up to one hundred and twenty guests. There is a good daily programme of activities, as this is a very well stocked park with everything from Rothschild’s giraffe to black and white rhino.

BATELEUR CAMP

The camp is set amongst forests on the edge of the Masai Mara, just below the spot where scenes from the motion picture ‘Out of Africa’ was filmed. The camp recreates the authentic feel of being on safari during the early twentieth century, when hordes of porters would carry all that was deemed necessary for sophisticated comfort! All nine tents are luxuriously well decorated. Activities include game drives and walks, accompanied by an extremely knowledgeable guide.

DREAM CAMP

Situated on the banks of the Talek River, Dream Camp has just 15 tents located on the border of the park. The camp is very ecologically friendly with both electricity and hot water generated by solar power. Tents are comfortable, food tasty and service very efficient. They also have a mobile camping operation in the surrounding Masai lands, which is highly recommended for two or three nights.

GOVERNORS’ CAMP

Governors’ Camp lies on the banks of the Mara River to the west of the famous Masai Mara. The camp is in a spot once reserved for the colonial governors of Kenya and their royal visitors therefore placing particular emphasis on comfort, service and excellent cuisine. Activities are mainly concentrated on game drives and walking safaris, all accompanied by knowledgeable guides.

LITTLE GOVERNORS’ CAMP

Little Governor’s Camp is built around a small lake that teems with birds and wildlife. The seventeen tents are reached by boat, across the Mara River and are exquisitely set, offering a serene and romantic atmosphere. Built for intimacy, entirely from canvas, the tents look out over the busy waterhole, furnishings are luxurious, bar always stocked and a French chef continues to amaze guests with delightful cuisine.

GOVERNORS’ IL MORAN

Il Moran is perfectly suited to those who want that extra sense of luxury. With just ten beautifully furnished tents located along the Mara River, the camp is hidden in the shadow of ancient trees and the surrounding bush. Everything is done to perfection here, from the lodge’s decoration, to the exquisite cuisine.

GOVERNORS’ PRIVATE CAMP

Governors’ Private Camp has all the assets of an individually tailored mobile safari with the advantages of a long established company. There is a traditional safari atmosphere and all the comforts have been maintained throughout the eight tents. The food is also of the highest possible quality. Private Camp is generally hired by clients or small groups who seek exclusivity… where everything is tailored around guests requirements.

KEEKOROK LODGE

One of the oldest lodges in the Mara, Keekorok was opened in early 60’s and lies at the southern end of the Mara. With eighty five rooms spread out in the gardens, the lodge doesn’t feel as large as it sounds. Rooms are spacious though are simple.
